IONIA. Teos. Circa 450-425 BC. Stater (Silver, 25 mm, 11.86 g). THI Griffin, with curved wings, seated to right, raising left foreleg; in field to right, head of a lion right. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. Balcer Period II, -. Davissons 33 (2014), 57 corr. (same dies, but the symbol misdescribed as ram's head). Gillet 1124 (this coin). SNG Copenhagen -. SNG von Aulock -. Very rare and beautifully toned. Flan crack and the reverse somewhat rough, otherwise, very fine.
